Plastic bumper repairs
Dingz - 27/12/22 at 10:10 PM

Has anyone repaired successfully fixing tabs on a plastic bumper? Daughter has Citroen C1 and damaged the bumper, looks like most of the lower tabs have broken. Wondered if there was any suitable adhesive or fillers. Looks like 3m may do one.
Thanks.

I've done repairs to plastic bumpers simply using a soldering iron and scrap plastic to weld the splits together. Dead easy and I used this method all the time with my 3D printed models. Its also how caravans are repaired. Glues just don't stick. Finish off with some normal body filler.

As above, I have used a soldering iron but I have also often used bits of paperclip as reinforcement. There are videos on youtube to give you the idea.

You can also get a proper plastic welding kit which contains metal staples that you heat up. Essentially it's a posh version of the paperclips / soldering iron technique.

Are these tabs on the underside/back of the bumper, where they cannot normally be seen? If so, I'd just use strips of plastic, screwed to the bumper.
