Oooops distractions cause huge scratch
ditchlewis - 4/8/05 at 12:10 PM

I have been very distracted following this weekend when my exwife started hearing evil voices in her head and i had to grab my son who was terrified. Mega Problems.... i'm sorry and moan over.

I know that there have been threads on this in the past, but the distractions are preventing a proper search... so I appologise for asking a stupid question again.

Problem..... I was out fitting the nose cone and cutting it around the headlight bar using a dremel on number 5 speed setting...... you guessed it, it slipped and i have been left with a deep scratch that I think is to deep to polish out.

do i have to paint the nose cone?

would it be better to fill the scratch with a clear gell coat, if so where best to get it?

any advise would be gratefully received.

Can you not get some gelcoat of the same colour?

Scrap it and get a new one, it just so happens I know someone who'll take it off your hands . Seriously though, if you're going to paint it you may as well use ordinary bodyfiller to repair it.

Many Thanks lads.

I should be more careful and not work on the car when distracted but life goes on.

i think i will have to try some of my model making skills to disguise it as the scratch will be by a headlight and not to obvious from most angles.

if that fails i will try to get some black gel coat.

will gel coat self level if i drip it into the scratch?
