Fibreglass materials suppliers?
the_fbi - 9/9/06 at 08:13 PM

Who are the best suppliers for fibreglassing materials, if I was looking to make some parts myself?

Also, any FAQ pages dealing with making your own parts?

CFS are supposed to be very good -> http://www.cfsnet.co.uk/

Their website has plenty of good advise, they also stock books.

Agree with iank, CFS, very helpful, fair prices. Have used them for some years now. Ray

The fibre glass guys are called East Coast Fibreglass supplies,
web site is

www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.uk

working from an industrial unit in South Shields - about 20 people employed making life raft containers and panels for buses. They started an e bay shop as a side line as they reckon people were being ripped off, (even at his prices he is making a comfortable mark up.)
I bought enough stuff to glass in 2 floors for £16 which is pretty good, in my opinion.
Makes the Halfrauds stuff look very extortionate. I reckon these guys would deal with a bulk order at a good price I told him I would give him a plug on some websites to help him along. Have a look at his on line prices and let me know how they compare with your local guys. A couple of guys fromthe Jago club have also used them and been very pleased
Thanks.

Love to use East Coast but very few pages of their website are actually accessible.

Unfortunately whoever modified the OSC templates/install didn't do too good a job.

From the CSM page I did manage to get up (although 2 copies of itself one above the other) the prices seem to be better than CFS's)

Coulnd't compare resin's though as ECF's page's don't work

Hate to think how much business they aren't getting because of it.

Hi , Just tried site and it all seems towork for me
They do have an e bay shop which probably does popular sized kits and they have hard copies of the price list hanging up in the reception area- I missed the internet stuff as I collected it while passing through the area.
although I'd sent an e mail in advance to check what would be the best stuff for my purposes and response was quick.

Hi, would it be at all possible for you to call me as soon as regarding the site,
thanks very much 0191 4562146 or lave me your number.

cheers, Gary

Good to see a trader responding and wanting to fix a reported problem.

Site works for me (firefox 1.5.0.5 on linux)
Looks pretty good, I'll certainly consider you if/when I need some grp supplies.

One minor complaint is it's a real pain for sites to steal the right button to prevent people copying pictures. I use a mouse gesture plugin and it makes going back or forward really irritating. It wouldn't stop me grabbing the pictures if I wanted them anyway

Weird, may not be you at all.

At work its fine with IE, yet at home its not (or at least wasn't when I left this morning)

I'll try clearing my cache at home and see what happens, but all other OSC based sites are OK so it'll be a weird one.

iank - 11/9/06 at 09:57 AM

different versions of internet exploder?

the_fbi - 11/9/06 at 11:06 AM

OK, cleared cache at home. Problem still exists.

Same version of IE at work and home. Given that Firefox is clearly missing some html tags for it to display the site's source it would indicate a problem at my end (given that its OK at work) but nothing else is affected.

Strangest of things.

Its now fine from home. But nothing has changed, not even rebooted the PC.

Be interesting to know if any changes have been made to the server today.

Its about 4x faster and all pages work fine.

May have to find something to buy now

the_fbi - 11/9/06 at 06:32 PM

Hm... I notice that pages have been changed from .html to the standard .php

Have you turned off "Search Engine Friendly URL's" ?

the_fbi - 15/9/06 at 07:43 PM

Gary: I'll send you a U2U, but do you do Polyurethane Liquid Foam?

I'm thinking it would make a good mould material if I just set a lump and then shape/sand as required.

Does it get attacked by the resins?
