edge trim advice
jabbahutt - 3/5/07 at 11:27 AM

Morning

Just finalising my shopping list for Stoneleigh and would appreciate some advice

Need to buy edge to trim for front wings bonnet etc for both SVA and asthetic purposes.

The panels concerned vary in thickness and shape to form around and would appreciate some advice on the best edge trim to use, where to buy it from etc as I've heard of stuff that refuses to stay in place etc and don't want to waste my money. Utlimately I'd like something that isn't blatantly obvoius when finshed as the car is black

Thanks for any assistance.

Look for the stuff that's reinforced with metal. It's generally black with a textured finish and fits panel edgeds from around 2-6mm thick. It's got little metal clips embedded in it which means it grips nice and tight. It's also easy to form around curves etc.

Here's a pic showing it fitted to my MK bonnet around the air filter cut-out...

wot ^^^ thingy says; think it is called herring bone - there are many separete metal u bits covered in plastic - so it will expand a bit, stay put and go round edges nicely.

I hve uses U section rubber type stuff but it needs to be glued on and cutting slits to go round corners.

Used the std stuff from woolies. Loads of pics in archive of it fitted to front wings etc.

Grips tight (hard to push on, but not imposssible) and looks nice too.

the stuff that nick205 is on about is called `U trim edging`. It comes in different sizes. You should be able to buy this at Stoneleigh for about £1 a metre.
