Vortx prop / general prop query

Hi,

Im going to get my prop adjusted this week I have a sierra 2 part job Im thinking i need to get the following done. This is for a Vortx with a R1 5pw in it

1. recon the UJs
2. New centre bearing
3. Have the short section lengthened (sliding joint) by 10"
4. Have a UJ and new flange (for sproket adaptor) added to the short section

Does this sound about right?

I know i should have a TRT but money is a bit tight and I need to get SVA'd before the IVA comes in and plan to replace with a TRT in the summer or next winter

Sounds fine.

I left the original UJ and centre bearing in, and 4,000 miles later I haven't had any issues from it. (touches wood)

By the time you've replaced the UJ, centre bearing, shortened it etc, would it not be cheaper / easier to buy a new bespoke prop from MNR? AFAIK they are £195?

If I were you I would have the prop made TRT now. You will have to split the prop at the centre bearing to get it in if you have already fitted the engine and this can be very difficult. It will be even worse trying to split it to remove it to be modded again while in the car.
I think it will be false economy to have the sierra one you have modded now and then have it converted to TRT later. Cost vurses hassle, cost would win IMHO.
