Our Vortex with an R1 is currently performing well on the track, but the lack of torque is frustrating.
So three questions
1) Are there any Hyabusa engined Vortexes (ie does a cradle and necessary bits exist)
2) Is the Hyabusa significantly better than R1 on carbs.
3) Does anyone know if there is anyone in the cardiff area who could tune an R1.

ps Be aware that a Vortex and a track day will lead to instant addiction!!
I think turboing it would be cheaper and faster than a busa.

Hmmmmm. Had not thought of turbo and to be honest wouldn't have a clue where to start unless it's been done before, but it sounds cool! Any
links etc would be useful!

I know torque is not something you have a shortage of but do you know if there's anyone who posts here with the hyabusa (in a vortex)?

also a busa is a lot better than a carb R1 but not much better than a injected 07/8 R1

forgot to add that the busas , zx12s etc are considerably heavier than the r1

I think busakid on here built one of the demonstrators i saw at donnington. If your after the busa the conversions going to be hassel. If it was me id probably start a fresh with a new kit or keep what youve got and tune the current engine

See if someone here can give you a run in a later injected version like '06+. You are welcome to try ours but the travel could be expensive.
It could be a cheaper option as you don't need all the dry sump stuff.
What diff ratio are you running?
even changing to a newer r1 its a different manifold, cradle, lower mounts and wiring im afraid, i would go for a mild turbo conversion, we are hoping
to turbo our new 06 powered car

Having driven both (03) R1 and busa powered BECs of otherwise very similar spec, I completely agree with Marc's observations. At road speeds there's very little difference and its only when you get into 3 figures on track that the busa gains ground, so upgrading to a Busa is a big expense for a small gain.
you could always supercharge it. that way there is no need to alter the exhaust system, and make new holes in the bodywork. There are also companies out there selling full supercharge kits for the R1
Yep, am waiting for some info on supercharging, but it is early days yet, I think that the best first step is to get the car to PDQ for a proper tune,
then if that does not release a sufficient boost then take the next step.

reading these remarks i start to sway a bit about my enginechoice.
My plan has been to use 2008 Hayabusa engine but if the benefit over an R1 is less than obvious then i might reconsider...
I havenīt ordered car or engine yet but will in near future.
My car will be road registred but fast on the track is the main goal!
the comparisons made on here where against the earlier busa s
the new 08 busa is the real deal but is a lot more money than the newer r1 s 05 - 08
