Another MNR owner
dave107 - 1/10/08 at 09:21 PM

Hi everyone my son and i have become the proud owners of an MNR vortx R1 kit, the idea is for it to be a two year project between father and son (14 years old), but i think that has gone straight out the window we now want it finished as soon as possible, as long as we can get our heads around building it.
There does seem to be a lot of help from MNR owners so it should make building a bit easier.
All the best Dave and Jack.

If I took out all the dead periods of my build it would have took less than 3 months.. such is the ease of Chris & Marc's kits.

Welcome to the wonderful world of MNR ownership and feel free to browse my blog and ask any questions.

Good luck!
Steve

Thanks Steve.
i think i saw you at Chris and Marcs workshop the day we collected our car, i think yours was having some work done, i am sure we will be on here a lot and there will be good days and bad, it's going well at the moment we've got the brake lines in the fuel lines and the wiring loom and pedal box all in four weeks.

Welcome,

Youll love it the kit is soooo nice to work with top quality and the service the guys give is second to none.

Give my blog a brows its not as detailed as id like but i think it gives a feeling, As said by steve it can be built if you have all the bits and dont loose enthusiasum

Enjoy and this is by far the best place to get answers to even the most stupid questions I should know i have asked alot

welcome.... new in this part of the forum myself....

Welcome!
We are building a car with my dad and brother, too and after eleven 10am-8pm workdays we have suspensions fitted, engine in, cooling in, engine ready to be wired and started, then its only bodywork and electrics... I reckon we are around halfway, but we are definitely not going for a quick build, rather a thorough and nice one. So build time will depend on how often you can find a full day to work on the car. In our case not even one day a week...
Have fun, don't rush it, build it once but build it properly!
Great choice of car though!

Gergely

Hi and welcome, im also building one with my dad great fun if not causing a few arguments at times What years the R1? ive got a few bits on R1's(02-03) covered in my blog (see below). I'd read up on the wiring on here and the likes if you havent had much previous car wiring experience as ive found it one of the trickier bits so far

Congratulations and welcome! I've been building since late last November and am throughly enjoying it. Hoping to have the car on the road next spring.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, when i said we want to get car finished as soon as possible i mean't maybe a year instead of two years, there is not going to be any short cuts i like to see a high standard in all jobs i do and hope this will rub off on my lad.
A bit about our car
Red RAL code 3020
2003 R1 engine
Race nose
Tunnel cover red with black top
Dashboard black
Side bars
Digi dash
Savage switches
Paddle shift
Quaiffe reverse box
Team Dynamics wheels with Toyo tyres
MNR (raceleda) front end
Powercommander
The bit i am dreading is the wiring but that sounds like everyone else anyway.

Thanks again for the welcome.

hi and welcome
wiring is a doddle unless you want the savage switches which are a bit tricky (i found anyway)
