Just brought the ZR back from a local company recommended to me by a couple fo MK owners.
I asked them to look at the camber on all wheels & toe on the fronts and set them up to
1deg neg cam fr
0.5deg neg camber rear
1.5deg neg toe (in) front
and also to report back on what the settings were before (to see how wrong I got it)
I had a phone call before lunch saying that theyd finished & that my setup was consistent & very close to what I wanted, (correct values but
not correct direction, whoops) but that theyd set them to as close to what I'd asked as their limited by either a full turn (front upper ball
joints) or a half turn (rear upper suspension arm joints) and to come & get it.
Well let me just say that the drive back was even more fun than Ive had vefore & the thing will actually go around corners now.
Thank you very much Moggy & Richi - Kevin Vernon at Tudor Motor Body Repairs Limited, Market Drayton Shropshire, has done you proud & I'd
recomend them to anybody needing to sort out their twitchy back end like I did.
The twitchy back end was down to too loose off side rear suspension bolts BTW
Now, wheres that weather forcast.
A*SE - rain for the next 3 days.
Maybe it'll clear for the bank holiday
How much did it cost ya Jos?
Did you get the ride height etc set up at the same time (corner weights)?
Nope didnt get it corner weighted but if corner weighting does the same improvement as camber & toe then it'll be well quick man, even with a
pinto innit.
It cost me £58.00, but its probably a bit of a trek for you DW. Well worth it though.
Are they a specialist garage or just a regular type that cares enough to get it right?
What type of kit did they use? I recall getting the tracking set on an M3 some time ago and they griped about not being able to get the gauge under
the wheel arch. Front arches on ZR are even closer. Thinking about it i bet different kit is required to do camber.
Theyre a local (ish) garage who specialise in restoring/repairing/mocustomising Morgans in particular, but theyll take on most projects.
Their next project is a porsche speedster - my brains were picked on SVA bits.
There was a concern on getting the gauges onto my wheels, but ive got 13" minilites so there was no problem there.
The gauges hang from the wheel rim rather than the tyre.

Ive just remembered i was given the name of a local guy some time ago. Ive just rang him up and he has said he can do me a camber, toe in and corner
weight set up for around £100 cash!!!! Sounds great. The guy runs a rally car as well so sounds like he knows what he doing. I know of a nice megabusa
that was set up by him.
Does anyone know how much of an improvement getting the corner weights set up after correct camber etc gives you?
The guy is John Pye, Bishop auckland. 01388 661107.
Well my 58 quid is good for 10mph around some corners.
I have this verified by an independant 3rd party - who am i trying to kid - it was my soon to be missus in the passenger seat who commented that she
was amazed that she (the car) felt more comfortable going around a previously 60mph corner at 70 after the setup than she ever did at 60 prior to the
setup
Sounds very interesting Jos. I guess you can also justify the cost in terms of fun factor and also tyre wear. Were you tempted to go for more than 0.5
neg at the rear? I have heard that track cars run even better with -1. Did the garage offer any useful advice or did they just use your (Mac#1's)
settings? Did they tell you what the actual settings are based on being limited by full turns. I was able to do a rough camber set up myself using a
home made gauge. Of course this doesnt tell me what the actuals are but gets each side roughly equal. main problem for me i guess is that toe in will
be all over the place. I have noticed that;
1. under hard acceleration on wet roads the back end can step out a touch,
2. Under hard braking it doesnt feel stable (i was told corner weight set up will help solve this),
3. On some tight quick corners i can feel the car settle in mid bend which is a bit unnerving.
Did you have any of this before set up that is now cured?
Did they offer you any corner weight set ups? Just wondering what the going price is.
