JAW Problems

Hi All,

got one of the JAW units from Chris during the group buy and have finally got around to trying to fit it and guess what I can't seem to get it working.

I've checked all my wiring and it is correct.
I can connect to it using JAW Edit and I've even been able to succesfully load firmware (tried all available and none work any differently)

When I try and do a free air calibration using the new lambda sensor, I get a value between 31 and 33 and the afr goes up to 34.28

I've try testing the system with butane, but nothing makes the afr budge. Reading the forum for this, it would seem I'm not alone with these kind of issues.

Anyone have any idea what I can check to try and diagnose the problem. I'm getting really frustrated and begining to wish I'd just shelled out for an LC-1

What software and firmware have you loaded ? I had trouble with the latest code and had to drop back to an earlier version.

Also does the sensor get hot?

The sensor does heat up.

I'm currently using firmware version 1.11 (JAW Edit 1.16) but I've tried all the currently available firmwares

When I first conected mine i had the same problem.I expected it to show correct values as soon as I turned it on, but eventually worked out that you need to click the datalogging button before the screen display shows the correct AFR even though it does respond to firm ware updates and shows an AFR reading.

Download the JAWEdit program from the 14point7.com site, there is a document in there that tells you how to wire it up, but basically you apply 12v and ground to the unit and wire the lamba sensor according to the numbers on the connector.

I worked the Data logging part out quite quickly. The main issue is the free air calibration that should be around 0 for a new sensor is showing up as 31, and as I said earlier, the fact that I can't get it to react to butane.

Does anyone have an LC1 for sale, or know the cheapest place to get one.

On a similar subject, the sensor plug has only 5 wires exiting it, but the pcb is looking for 6 as stated on the website - I appear to be missing a green cable from the sensor plug - anybody else had this?

The extra wire is dealt with in the sensor's connector - there's a calibration potentiometer in there (which shouldn't be played with!

You'll find that the connection has 6 wires on one side, and 5 on the other.

I see...

So there are 5 wires from the sensor to the plug, but where do i get the 6th from for the plug to the PCB - should i ignore the green requirement for the PCB?

There is six connectors in the socket on the end of the sensor. as previously stated there some electronics in the socket the creates the sixth connection

Got it - just looked at back of plug and see what you mean now!! Sorry, just being a bit thick....
