Hi, i am planning on using bike carbs to run my 2.0 zetec engine. will i need to install a second fuel line as a return ?
if so, does it need to be copper or rubber and what size? Thanks for you help.
If they are carbs...no return is needed.
However, if they are throttle bodies(injectors) then yes you will.
no fuel line needed
If your are going to use them as carbs, there is no need for a return.
If you are going to use them as throttle bodies for an injected engine, then you need a return line & Hi pressure fuel pump and a swirl pot. The
return will then be from the swirl pot to the fuel tank.

No return needed with those but you might want to budget for a bike fuel pump.
Also £375 seems a bit steep. Can you not make your own inlet manifold?

i wouldn't know where to begin. thats why i am looking for a plug and play solution. i thaink i can get the carb kit and ECU unit , Zetec coil pack, flywheel position / speed sensor and connecting cable with plugs & sockets for £750.00
Thats an awfull lot of cash for what is still a locost setup imho
That sort of cash would get you a mint set 45's , ecu and the hole nine yards.
REALLY... let me tell you guy's the full story and maybe you can save me a few pounds.. i am building a car without a instruction manual. Using common sense, photos, this forum and some phone conversions with the manufactures of the kit. most of the mechanical i can figure out. but when it comes to electrics and fueling i'm F**King useless. i want to buy a kit that i can plug the live in and then the earth, blot on a set of carbs and start the engine...... however i now realize that this is just a dream. i am going to be fitting a 2.0L zetec engine with a type 9 box. i have run one fuel line to the back of the car and have now got the loom sitting on top of the car......Whats Next??????Heeeellllpppp....

Less of your own work also = more dosh.

• At £ 375 as cheap as one new weber
but the bike carbs are second hand.

if i went for a set of 45 webbers, what esle would i need to get it to start? ie. ecu, brain, coil ????
also is £150 +vat a good price for a 2002 2.0L zetec with 3 month warrentry?

I have a set of GSX-R 1000 Throttle bodies re-spaced on a proper zetec manifold which you could have for £220....leaving you £555 (from the orginal £750) for the ECU and the rest of gubbins.
The webers would work as well....

If you're at that stage, put another fuel line down the tunnel anyway as its much easier to do now rather than later, then if you ever decide to
do the throttle body thing or webers that need a return you're all set.

I have a set of 45 dellortos with a tps fitted you could have for £200.
You would still need an ignition set up and an inlet manifold.
Also have a fuel pump and regulator.
I used 8mm like this stuff
LINKY have
a look what you've got going down already and get the same, you can then figure of 8 the p clips to secure both lines together.

I used 8mm aswell. I wish I had run the return whilst I was at it. Its now going to be a ball-ake.
them westi webers look fine but I would expect them to go for more ?
The ecu is a dealer only to re map so make sure your engine is the same spec.
The carbs should be the zetec spec 152g if not they will run very lumpy at low revs.
That kit would have cost well over £1500 new.
Nobody has asked what year your zetec is.
If it's a new one you may not pass the emissions test running it on carbs
