How do I check that the megasquirt is set up to use an LC1 sensor ?

If you're using TunerStudio its File/Project/Project Properties/Settings

You need to go to file configurator and check that its set here for LC1, if not then go file directory and amend here:

C:/Program Files/MegaSquirt/car1/mtCfg/settings.ini

In EGO control settings to wide band.
