My previously "trusty old" Techedge Wideband recently threw a wobbly then expired just as I was putting the finishing touches to my VE
table following a throttle bodies install. Techedge were unable to help so I had it checked over by a UK supplier who pronounced it dead.
Looking around the net I came across the SPARTAN 2 Wideband made by 14point7.
£120 from Phil at ExtraEFI including the BOSCH sensor. It was easy to fit and easy to interface with my Megasquirt ECU.
The kit includes an LED to indicate sensor tip temperature.
Initial testing using VE AnalyzeLive showed discrepancies in my VE table that I suspect arose when the Techedge was failing.
Most of the table was showing rich.
Half a dozen sessions later the table is virtually static. I'll probably get it on the rollers for final tweaks.
When first switched on it sends two calibration signals for five seconds each. 13.33 AFR then 16.66.
My laptop registers these as 13.37 and 16.71 using TunerStudio software. So within 0.05
If you have MS2 or MS3 there is an Excel based correction calculator on the 14point7 website to get the calibration perfect.
There's a support forum on the website too.
It seems to be performing well for a budget unit.
Only time will tell.
Interesting. I'll keep it in mind. Can you output the AFR to a gauge as well as to an ECU? I like the peace of mind of being able to keep an eye
on what is happening, as well as having it feedback to the ECU.
I have an Innovate LC-1 which I bought 2nd off ebay. Had it about 2 years and it seems to be working OK. Also has an LED to indicate the sensor is up
temperature or display any errors.
I have the 14.7 SLC gauge version.
Not sure whether it is just out of stock, or deleted - Link
