Does anyone know whether a hall effect TPS will work with Megasquirt?
I have an application where I can get a direct fitting hall sensor, but not a carbon track, the alternative being to machine an adapter and modify the
throttle spindle.
What's the output from the hall? I've used a few non automotive and there can be dozens of output types (voltages, currents etc). If it outputs 0-5v you can use it! If it outputs anything else you might need conditioning circuitry.
It is 0-5 volts, I thought it should be OK, but a second opinion is always useful.
Yep, should be fine then. Much nicer option too, I'm not a fan of swept carbon contacts!
A Hall Effect sensor in function is just an on/off switch
No it's not, there's dozens of types. They're used as on-off in some situations, but you can happily get linear ratiometric ones.
I'm currently re-building a boat outdrive leg angle sensor using one.
All a hall effect *switch* does is put a threshold on some value of field strength.
