Fuel injection air intake
Thinking about it - 26/2/07 at 09:38 PM

In my picture archive is a pcture "air intake" Could you please have a look and answer the following for me?

1 Is it possible to dispense with item B as it seems all a little cumbersome for an air filter box although it does have a fancy flap arrangement inside.

2 if so can i then mount the fuel distribution unit elsewhere?

3 could I then fix an air filter straight onto C

It is a 1600 CVH engine with the pre efi system. Do you think it will go under the bonnet without any cut outs?

I know you will say fit carbs. But this works well and carbs being a greater expence could come later if necessary.

Thanks

Confused but excited. - 26/2/07 at 11:15 PM

Speaking personally, I'm all for fancy flaps!

Never mind the flaps. Do I bin it or keep it?

Is the 'fancy flap' not the fuel metering unit.

I thought those injection systems had an air metering unit (flap) which dictated how much fuel to inject.

Of course, I could be talking bourbles!!

The flap is what meters the fuel, so no you can't bin it if you want to keep the stock fuel injection.
