OBD ii and the current Ford Focus
dave_vic_ozz - 8/5/07 at 10:30 AM

In Australia we have to use an almost new car. I got a Ford Focus 2.0ltr cheap - great. Whole running car, rolled but just drivable for under uk& 1000. I get error messages on the dash with things like door open and power steering pump failure. Makes sence as they were taken off the wiring.
Do you kind folk know of a way to resolve these error messages due to the missing items on the CANBus (OBD ii)?

It will be something we will need to work through in the future as these will be old cars soon.

Any advice?

Dave.

Either fool the ecu into thinking the doors are permanently closed etc by using suitable wiring or get an after market ecu to power the fuel injection and ignition etc. and bin the old one.

I would guess that you have to use the Ford ecu. Do you know what ecu it is?
There used to be a Yahoo group that dealt with reprogramming ford ESCIV ecus I will see if I can find a link to it for you.

Just found it it wasn't a Yahoo

try

http://www.moates.net/
and then to the forum you probably have a EEC V though if it is that recent.

I was right there is also a Yahoo group EECTuner and they cover the EEC V as well.

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/EECTuner/

you will need to identify the version of the ECU you have but that will be on the paper bar code label on the outside of the ecu.
Hope this helps

This group might be able to help you out.

Is there a seperate body control unit (BCU) that is missing ? if not these inputs have to be plain switched inputs in which case it might be simple a matter of either grounding inputs.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you folk. Thanks for the links and I'm searching them now.

I have started a thread on the Australian version of this site for those puting the Duratec into a clubbie.

If you have done any of this stuff or can add links to the Duratec hardware suppliers I would realy appreciate it.

Sorry for taking so long to get back.

The OEM ECU is required. We have done quite a bit more to fool the ECU - check it out.
