Hi All

I'm looking for a mappable ECU for my 5VY R1 engine. I'm currently running an Emerald ECU but want to use the standard crank trigger wheel which is an 8 tooth wheel with a separate cam sensor.

I thought of DTA but they don't do anything less than 12 teeth. Any others I should think of?

I'd be interested in launch control and traction control if possible.

And before anybody says it, I don't want to use the standard ECU etc.!

why not cut a new crank wheel to go in the old location, they're not complex, it'd probably be <£30 to get one laser or water cut.

I've got a really nice 36/1 wheel machined up ready but I really wanted to simplify everything. I also need two crank wheels as I have a spare engine which I want to be able to swap over with the minimum of fuss - the crank trigger wheel is behind the cam chain on the later R1's so harder to get at!

What year is the 5VY?

I just had a fiddle in the Software. I think the haltech E8 or E11 ECU can handle the job.

Ah... was thinking 5PW, it's dead easy to change trigger wheels on that.

I;ll have a look at the Hailtech. It's a 2005 motor.

If you want to run the Stock 4 coils (recommended) you'll need the E8. On the software you can choose the custom trigger setup. Insert the number of teeth, and you can program one of the spare digital inputs as an extra 'home' input, for he cam sensor. But it is best to speak to somebody who's got more experience in this.
