I'll soon be heading to the scrapyard to get an EDIS 4, I allready have the coilpack/leads from a 1.8 Zetec, but am missing the EDIS 4 and lead to crank sensor.......... I have some questions.......

Which ford cars have these?

Where in the engine bay should I be looking?

What tools should I take to remove it?

Is there an alternative souce for the EDIS?

When I was looking, the cleanest one I could find was on a Mk1 Mondeo auto, bolted to the bulkhead somewhere.

cleanest ones are on the automatic Mondeo's they are on the bulkhead in the midlle. Held on with two bolts, 7mm spanner needed.

Escort's and Fiesta's had them on the near side wing or on the bulkhead depending upon year and model.

Model wise you want to be looking at the 1.3 and 1.4 single point injection models but there are others that have them.
These are held on with two phillips screws.

And finally some good wire cutters to cut the loom.

Some Escort's / Fiesta's have have an esc modual that looks loke an edis4, but has a red pannel.

Got mine off an RS2000 Escort, the crap one with the dohc engine. Edis was on the offside inner wing.

Best one in my opinion is the early mk5 Escort, before they had it built into the ECU. Loom is easy to take out as 1 piece, and all the wires are a good length for a conversion.

You can also try Fiesta mk3, but the CPS cable is stupidly long.
