R6 throttle bodies on a zetec
tim windmill - 6/6/08 at 07:48 AM

just thought i would post some pics of my R6 throttle bodies installation onto a blacktop zetec and the costs involved.
home made manifold using mild steel plate purchased from off here £20,throttle bodies £34, R1 air trumpets £10, metal to modify fuel rail £3,Throttle cable £1.50
big thankyou to Jacko for weldeing up the manifold and silver soldering my fuel rail. and supplying the rubber hose, and it seems to go very well indeed.forgot to add 6mm threaded rod required for respacing bodies £1.30.
afaik these throttle bodies are off a 2003 model R6 with 38mm chokes and were dead easy to respace.

Very neat. I did a similar thing with ZX6R carbs.

Cost next to nothing to do and works really well.

confused me for a mo, are they carbs not throttle bodies? was thinking of trying this on my silver top. what ingition system are you using? also the angle of the carbs seem nearly vertical have you had any fuel starvation problems or fuel float level.
Was teh respacing just a case of spacing out with length of threaded rod in between. be interested to see what it was like on a RR.

definitley throttle bodies not carbs, using the standard bike injectors which are fitted in the throttle body base. the bodies are mounted vertical and not at an angle and it has no problems with fuel starvation. Running megasquirt ecu with edis. Re spacing was just a matter of getting a longer length of 6mm threaded rod and making up some small spacers for between the bodies also had to extend the arms so that the they operated each throttle body
