Help - Earth to Gazza!
Gazza - 6/2/04 at 08:38 PM

I'm about to start fitting the wiring loom and was looking for advice on the best way to provide an earth connection....

Is drilling a hole in the chassis (Luego Velocity), fitting a rivnut and bolting the appropriately terminated wire to the rivnut / chassis - a good idea?

why not just self tapping screws? Seems to work on the escort ok.

on mine, ive drilled thru and welded a bolt into the back, so that the thread protrudes. Might not be too clever if the chassis is painted or powdercoated though! works well though.

i think a welded bolt is better than a rivnut

rivnuts can sometimes come loose or rotate in their hole which wont make good contact

Weld a nut or bolt to the chassis, and take the engine earth strap and the battery negative to this nut or bolt
