Where to buy wire for DIY loom
givemethebighammer - 28/3/04 at 04:25 PM

Thanks for everyones help and advice on the DIY loom thread. I have now researched and designed my loom just need to buy the wire to do it with.

I reckon I need about 5 metres of 20 - 25 different colour wires (I could get away with less if I label the ends, but the labels are bound to fall off !)

The question is where can I buy the above wire by the metre. (specialist auto electrical suppliers ?)

I used the wire stripped from the Sierra for the front of the car so it would resemble the original wiring colours, then I ran trailer wiring cable to the rear lights, number plate etc. There's a lot of wire in a loom. A friend of mine uses wire from volvo estates from the scrapyard, says they have good lengths and are quality stuff.

Give them a ring and they will send you a free catalogue, I used them for the bits needed for the loom.

Very helpful

I modded the sierra loom to suit my needs(Cheap skate). But I can't recommend enough Alan at Premeir Wiring.Free advise,He is SVA wise and has good prices.I personally have had a very good service every time I've used them.01483 715725.Or their web site is www.premierwiring.co.uk.But it does not show everything they do.There is also a freephone number in the kitcar press for them.Well worth a ring .

yup thats the one, they do that very lightweight wire used on modern looms these days, even in dashing pink

I'm using bits of the old sierra loom and an rx 7 loom. Loads of colours just cut to length
