Wiring Ignition Warning Light
Northy - 22/5/04 at 11:21 AM

Hi all,

I'm a little confused. Should one side of my ignition warning light (normal bulb) be wired to the alternator and the other side to a fused 12 Volt feed?

I think thats how it works, just checking.

Cheers

Hi again !
Most people seem to use the oil pressure light as an ignition light. i.e. when the ignition is ON and the engine not running the light is ON. When the engine starts , oil pressure/ignition light goes OUT.

But doesn't the alternator need it to work properly? Sure I've heard something like that.

not sure about the VX stuff graham, but sierra ones do apparently need the light. Conrod was saying it is needed to excite something....

Thats what I thought

I'm not using VX alternator as its too big Ended up with a Lucus LRA 101 I think. Thats what is used on Sierras I think.
