Speedo problem
vintagebuilder - 17/6/10 at 02:07 PM

Hi,

Got a "Greengauge" electronic speedo with 4 magnets on the propshaft. The speedo reads accurately up to 50 m.ph then the pointer doesn't go above this.

Any advice would be welcolm.

Regards

How close is the sensor to the magnets? If the gap is large the sensor will get less of a signal from the magnets and it might be that at speed (when the magnets are moving quickly) its too quick to trigger the circuit. Worth a shot anyway

What type of spedo pickup does it use ?

Yep, I had a similar problem and 'fine tuned' the gap down to not much at all. Working well now though.

i moved the pick up to my cv joint when I had the problem, mine did not read above 30, but is now fine

Dear Agriv8,

I used a reed proximity switch from Farnell.
