Electronic Speedo Sender

Hi Guys,

Have been having a search around here but i'm just getting confused....

I have a type 9 5 speed in the car, and i know that i need an electronic speedo so that i can actually calibrate it, but i'm getting confused with where i put the sender.

Do i use an adaptor on the gearbox, or will i need to fabricate some kind of bracket to put a sender on the diff? I'm using a racetech electronic speedo if that makes any difference....

Any help appreciated!

Regard,s
andy

I'm using racetech too and also wondered how to get signal to speedo. They sell the bits you need plus instruction for just under £37. Send them an email, very helpful guys.

so the best plan is just to use the magnets?
i just thought that sounded a bit too much like what i use on my mountain bike!

if that's what everyone does and it works, and is IVA friendly then that's good enough for me!

depending on your speedo you can buy an adapter that goes into the gearbox and replaces the speedo cable..

i think eddie99 has one for sale.

I've got an ETB speedo, and the transducer from Burton which goes onto the speedo output from the box.

You need an adaptor to turn the circlip mount into a threaded one.

This has work just fine and dandy for a couple of years now.

you can buy the adaptor from burton pwer as emntioned.

due to lack of space and I suppose cost, I ended up making my own sensore - chopper wheel running in bearing in a house made from bits of aluminuim, magnet and hall effect sensor to drive a RaceTech speedo.

damn - why can't you put attachements in this forum?
