Side lights - permanent live?
smart51 - 24/10/10 at 01:21 PM

Do side lights have to be powered from a permanent live and dipped / main beam powered from the ignition?

The switch I bought from CBS only has 3 pins so all the lights have to be powered from the same source. I'm a bit annoyed because the hazard switch I bought from them also has 1 fewer pin than is actually needed.

Could you wire the hazards and the side lights from a permanent live and run the "out" side of the mains through a relay that only works when the ignition is on?

The CBS switch is the simplest way of wiring the lights. Personally I would have the headlights powered from a switched live so that you can't make the easy mistake of leaving the headlights on when parked - one advantage of using the Sierra switchgear.

use the switch to power relays.

the switch and side's relay is perm live and the others of a switched live.
