Can anyone advise on which type of electronic sender is on the granada style type 9 box for the speedo pick up.
Is it an inductive or a hall effect.
I need info to connect to a vdo gauge but as of yet have seen neither the gauge or the gearbox.
Thanks in advance folks
I can't help with how it works, but I discovered that I have one on my gearbox when it was removed.
At least I believe this is the electronic sender ? My car was built with the standard cable speeedo though, this was/is not connected.
Description
I think it is a hall effect - I had a gearbox built by BGH and asked them to put one in it. I then connected it to an ETB dial which usually works on hall effect (two magnets on the prop and a sensor).
Information update is that it is 2 wire sensor. Anyone?? It has to be used there is no option on magnets etc.
ETA I found this so maybe a 2 wire inductive sensor??

Probably not much but when i bought my Koso dash from Saturn Sportscars they supplied a little adaptor that fits an electronic sensor into the cable location.
I have just had a look back through my posts on the Tiger forum from 2006 when I did this and I mentioned that it is cog driven (so I guess not hall
effect) but it could still be used with the ETB hall effect speedo as I have to recalibrate it.
The only thing was that the speedo had 3 wires (yellow, brown from memory but can't remember the other) and the speedo only had 2.
I have tried to look for the wiring information for the wires I used but I can't find it by doing searches on the forum, but it did work after I
recalibrated it.
HTH
PS - I am pretty sure that BGH told me what each of the wires did, so might be worth a call to them?
PPS - just found the thread which gives what each wire is http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=52742 and wiring colours
