Transit SWB towbar electrics

Hi, was looking at getting a towbar/electric kit for my transit 55plate but apart from varying in cost from £80 to almost £300, can i just use the simple kit type?

I've heard and read about the electrics playing up due to low voltage / GEM / monitoring sensors etc in new vans and cars.

Should i be looking at one of these little "suppression"?? boxes or something?

1) Any ideas on cheap places to get a kit?
2) Does this electrical thing effect me or good to chop and solder into rear cluster wires?

Cheers Peers

If your Tranny has normal filament bulbs in the rear light cluster, you don't need the 'can-bus' type electronicy box. You may need an uprated flasher unit but I doubt it. If it's possible to buy a sub-loom that will plug into your excisting van loom, for a decent price, then get one. If not, buy the kit (which has the flasher buzzer/beeper warning) from Towsure, Discount Towing, Trailers and Towing, etc and splice into your loom.

And I would say the dedicated wiring loom is worth buying at £39, but they're out of stock at the moment...
