Just prepping the redtop to go in my F27 and need some pointers:
1. These 2 sockets (pic A) appear to be for the 2 plugs shown attached (pic B), but they were not plugged in when I got it, so not 100% sure? I am
looking at cooling system set up for the redtop – am I supposed to remove this sensor attached to the bottom of the inlet manifold anyway or does the
ECU need it? If so, do I have the right plugs.

2. What are these plugs / relay for and should i do anything with them?

3. Just need to confirm that the red wire ‘a’ should be connected to the terminal ‘a’ on the coil. Again was not connected when I got the engine, but
the nut was loose which implies that’s where it came from.

I have heard some bits you can cut off, but I dont understand what the ECU needs to function or what doesnt. I know it should be pretty straight
forward, but any help or pointers would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Matt
OK lets see,
first is the idle control valve (stepper motor) (round metal cylinder, bosch). Its connected to the base of the inlet and will be needed if using
standard injection/ecu.
I dont recognise the other connector, not sure what sensors are under that area of the car.
If the relay has a few different red/blue striped cables it will be the fuel relay.
I think the large square connector its the connector to main loom, you should only need one cable from this, a black one that will be the accesory
live (needs to remain live when cranking)
cable 4 looks like the main power supply, if its red it is and goes to the battery +.
5 is the ron plug, this should be set to which ever fuel you use

Great start -thanks for that loggyboyl. Its a good point I forgot to mention: I am running standard injection ECU.

My knowledge is a little limted as it seems you have the earlier 2.5 motronic dizzy engine, mine was the 2.8 dispac which had some variations.
Good place to ask is migweb on PNGclub, lots of expeience with all GM lumps on those.
The sensor on the side of the block is Iirc a knock sensor

Ok - so probably needed then - just need to confirm which plug goes onto it...

That would make sence as I know thats something the later versions (like I had) didnt have.
Yep idle control and knock sensor
