ive been having several issues with my rear light clusters on my trailer.they are getting quite old now and cracked, corroded, and generally past their
best.
is there any issues in fitting LED clusters as they seem good value at around £25 with a lifetime guarentee! mainly with the indicators as i know some
can cause issues! the tow car is a volvo s60 D5 with the correct volvo trailer haness attatchment! cheers
If your towvehicle has the bypass relay fitted, which it should have, then the LED lamps will be fine.
there was no relay in the trailer harness i fitted. but volvo fit a harness extender in the rear lighting loom which has a connector on the end for trailer wiring. my harnesshad a plug whch connected straight to the car loom plug!
The only issue I have is they don't draw enough current to make the repeater in the car or van operate.
I have just fitted led rearlights and led front indicators to my locost.
Everything works fine apart from the indicators are a tad fast.
Apparently fitting a resistor in each indicator feed wire cures this, I
have found some on Ebay but haven't tried them yet.

you can buy a replacement relay for the kit car, which will sort the flashing without soldering in the resistors, for the trailer im not sure , maybe
try first and if problem,, put the resistors inline,
Mitch
They work fine on trailer don't flash to fast, just don't draw enough current to make my buzzer work that lets you know there working if
that makes sense ?
On the locost, get a LED dedicated flasher, much better than resistors.
cheers jon. another expense i dont really need right now but needs must!
