I have the standard duratec alternator and I'm trying to sort the wiring of the 3 pin plug.
Does anybody have the connection details please?
Cheers
Not done a duratec but other Fords use a three pin Bosch and its controlled by the ecu. Years ago it was called Smart charge.
Re your three pins. One is a voltage reference ie the battery. Another is the charge light. The last is the command wire from the ecu.

You need to loose the alternator and get a small denso unit.

Your using Megasquirt I think from previous posts the MS cannot control the original alternator.
Most use a small Denso off a Diahatsu charade or similar. These types do not control their output via the ecu.
I'm running an alternator from a 2.0L US Focus with nothing controlling it. It levels off at 13.5v and stays there. I'm sure its less
efficient since the ECU cannot reduce output when it isn't needed but it works.
I was going to play with one of the PWM outputs on the MS3 to see if it could provide some sort of control but gave up after I saw a good voltage.

No never did hook it up. It was on a to-do list somewhere.
It will self excite and charge with just the main battery cable.
Using the standard one and it charges fine - only issue is that the charge warning light is also ECU switched so does not work
as no where to connect it to.
