I want to get a basic TPS to start looking at moving to 3D mapped ignition.
I can see various TPS from various fords etc described as being clockwise or counter-clockwise in operation.
I think I am misunderstanding something though, aren't basic TPS (not fancy hall effect ones) just variable resistors and so if the rotation is
the "wrong"way for my installation can I not just reverse which way round I connect the zero and the signal wires which will swap it from
reading high when closed to reading low when closed and vice versa? You then just calibrae the box to suit?
The no diz instructions seem to describe how to check the continuity etc across the 3 wires to get them the right way round?
Or is there something mechanical about a TPS that I am missing that means it doesn't work like this at all.
I'm not sure but I believe that some are spring loaded so that they aren't affected by and slop in the engagement of the sensor. So might only work one way.
That would make more sense, ta
Yes you can just swap the wires around
Not sure what set-up you have, but I'm sure I have an unused TPS set up for twin 40/45 in the garage waiting to go to a new home at the right price.
Yep fairly certain you can swap the wires, around I used a ford Focus, one on Twin 45s. When I did a Nodiz upgrade . Did not need to swap them as it was the right way for my carbs
