Need a little assistance here chaps..

I'm having to bodge a temporary earth up, from the red/green on the starter relay, to get it to start.

From the wiring diagram - the red/green from the starter relay block goes off to the clutch switch (black wire).

But my red/green goes to a black/cream wire and off into the loom.

So...

1) Haynes doesn't show this wire going to earth, yet when i earth it it works. Whats that about? Is the clutch switch just an earth?

2) From the picture you can see there is actually 2 red/green wires from the same connector, but only one shown on the diagram. Any idea what the other is?

Im tempted to make a permanent earth, but id really like to solve the problem. However, cutting back the loom may not be worth it..

This all coincided with the charging system failing. i imagine its the rectifier, but both happened at the same time.

The other red green will most likely be the side stand / in gear inhibit.

So the side stand and clutch switch are an earth switch essentially..?

Almost universally yes- simpler to switch to the earthed block then muck around with a separate supply / having to electrically isolate the switch. From an electronics point of view a switched earth is just as easy to work with.

I might test the clutch switch come to think of it. Would be nice to find the source of the issue.
