I have recently obtained an MG fuel gauge off ebay. Anyone know if the resistance is compatible with an Escort mk2 sender or if not if there is a simple fix?

You could just wire them up to a battery to do a test, without fitting in the car. Don't forget, the live feed needs to go through a voltage stabiliser.
