Is anyone using a high level brake light and if so, what kind, where did you get it and how much did it cost?
I would like to fit a LED one onto the rollbar but I'm not sure of the safety implications.

Mine is a clear LED one from SVC and cost £20 from the Donny show. See pic below.

Mine's a cheap & cheerful one I got from a local motor factors - cost me around £10. I threaded a wire through the roll bar. Personally, I'd want one a bit higher than Howlor's - mine's slung unter the top bar.

Similar thing as above - our's is on the rear of the top bar. Price £14.

Are these generally ok for SVA? Are there any to avoid?

SVC do one that has a curved back to fit the top rear of the rollbar, about £40.

Mine didn't have one for SVA , it's under the top of the roll bar with the cable through it . Don't know if it's just me but I tended to have drivers tailgating me so close they couldn't see the stop lights.

Rusty Nuts - That's exactly my problem. Only yesterday some yoyo almost hit me when travelling 6 inches of my rear.
Driving this type of car seems to invite all the 'normal tin top drivers' to have a go, sit on my tail or overtake me in the
most dangerous of places.
I need something higher up than the tail lights to alert the twats that I am slowing down.

This is also on my winter list due to exactly the same problem, also on the times i'm in rain the std brake lights are SO low.. But, how would you thread the power lead throught the roll bar, with out taking the bar off. would thickish cable be stiff enough to jjust keep pushing until it popped out of the boot space?

Best way to do it me thinks would be to drill a small hole in the bottom of the roll bar where it mounts above the shock, then another bigger hole underneath where you are going to mount the light, then push the wire up the bar from below and look for it at the top, it might take a few tries, but it'll be worth the effort

True, but I can't get me head in under the roll bar mount to see where the cable is ??

errrm, isn't anyone worried about getting water into the roll bar and it rusting from the inside out?

(no i don't have a better idea apart from taping the wire to the roll bar, just paranoid about rust)

I believe electrical instillation bods use a "mouse"

There's some info on my high level brake light HERE . I drilled and tapped the roll bar to mount the light, but the cable is just taped to the roll bar with electrical tape- a very good match for black powder coat!

I drilled a small hole from the bottom of my welded roll bar,and a 12 mill underneath the center to fish the wire thru then pushed a fish wire from the bottom.If you use a piece of pallet strapping (the plastic stuff)double it and push it into the top hole it'll form a loop within the roll bar feed the fish wire upwards pull the pallet strapping and hey presto youve got your fish wire thru might take a couple of attempts but its the easiest way to do it.
For the fish wire you need a stiffish wire one of the cores of 2.5 twin and earth (grey flat mains cable) is ideal,then attach your flexible feed cable to that and pull it thru.If its an LED brake light current is bugger all so you dont need a heavy cable.

I will be making a head rest after SVA which will be fitted to the roll bar behing my head. I could fit a brake light to that then it will be directly infront of the driver. I could blind the bastard with one of those high intensity LED racing fog lights!! They will get the message then!!

Drilled a small hole in the under side of roll bar and a larger one at the base of the rollbar to chassis then thread the cable from the top in the direction of lower hole use a piece of welding wire with a hook on the end to fish for wire from lower hole. Be patient you'll get it in the end. HTH
