Anyone used one of these nice small nippon denso alternators ?
Presuming the 3 pins are ign live/charge light/earth
BUT which is which ?
any clues lads
close up
nice pics bob,i bet the terms are marked P/IG/L
part no of alt is 16678-64012,terms are marked
P IG L if that means anything to anyone
You should know as the alt is in your hands.
I'll take a wild guess and say IG is ignition and L would be charge light so is P earth or does it earth on bracket ?

let me know when you find out bob, i've got one of these to fit with the same miniature connectors..
Ned.
I believe P is probably permanent live.
There are some wireing diagrams here
http://westfield-world.com/daihatsu_alternator.html
but none have exactly the same connector.
i'd be more concerned with the footwear in the photo

Looks like P is permanent live then.
Many thanks for the link ian
Link seem pretty much spot on.
Mine is the three terminal type, IG is the ignition live that make the charge circuit work and L is from the dashboard light which also has an
ignition live to it.
I tried wiring it with a permenant live from the "B" post but didn't like the idea it was "always on"
I'd go with the first diagram for the 4 terminal version with no perm live.
Earth is via the block as usual.

Just got one of these alternators.
Fits perfectly, the bracket from the Swift even fits the pinto.
But cant get it to work. Used the previous link to the westie website. Mine has 3 pins and have tried the first method as the plug i got with it only
had 2 wires.
Ive tried connecting the switched earth but not getting over 12.60 across the battery which is the non running voltage too.
I havent wired up the light yet, so havent connected that wire. Do you need both to make it work? On my last alternator I just had the + feed
connected and it worked fine.
Any ideas before I go back to the scrappy and get my money back.
