Not that I am really that bothered, but out of interest..........
I have a pair of Lucas 20-20 lamps on the front of my sierra 4x4 for scotland trips, and as usual wired the feed for the lamp relay into the main beam
wire (for the rhs headlight if it makes any difference)
This is isolated from the relay by a switch if I don't want them on with main beam for some reason.
What is strange is that since wiring them in, if I have the switch on, the lamps come on with the headlight stalk in sidellights only position, then
go off when you click it up to headlights when they are dipped, then come back on when you select main beam as you would
expect........................???????????????????
eh, em confused.
Doesn't bother me as they turn off on the switch and I never really use sidelights only anyway even if they didn't but I still don't
understand why and I am not stupid when it comes to vehicle wiring (have made a number of looms from scratch without a mistake to date!!!)
cheers
Nat
you sure you got the right relay? or if its a later version remember they switch to earth
fords dont you just love them
does it have a dimmer on the sidelight so the headlights come on but dimmer with the ignition
just a total geuss tho

only other thing i can think of is a faulty light switch/stalk
do the sidelights stay on when the headlamps come on
i think that one circuit activates the other.
for example it provides power to the main beam
then the main beam switch could give it ground using a relay.
this is what you get if you cant get a circuit sheme and as ford want to spent the minimum on wire in a car..
sow you should wire your + of the lights to + of the main beam, then ground of your lights with the switch to ground of the main beam.
then when mainbeam works your bulbs can work else they donīt!!!
in fact you then have putted them 100% parallell
Tks
