help anyone where do i connect hazard switched supply
myeates - 23/4/07 at 04:25 PM

hi guys i have a 7 pin hazard switch instead of the one on the sierra column.

the hazards work with the key turned off (as they should) but when i do this the hazard switch powers everything else so things like fuel pump start running with the key off, i tracked this down to the fact i had the hazard switched feed coming from the same supply that other things are on so with the power off and hazards on the switch was making a circuit to everthing else.

my switched supply is coming from one of the 4 wires on the ignition switch to the fuse box then split to things that need it. the permanent supply comes from battery for hazards and side lights.

the key switch is a ford sierra one but so far i have only used 3 of the wires from the key switch, there is a yellow wire that i was told was an axcillary power supply for things like radio would i power the hazards of this wire as it needs a completely separate circuit to everything else

any help will be greatfully received

You could track the problem down... personally I'd just bung a power diode in there to stop the volts refluxing....
