Hi Folks

Can anyone suggest someone who'll make battery cables up to my spec i.e. length and end-terminals.

Terminals will range from 4mm (ickle odyssey battery) through 5mm (starter motor) and 8mm (starter solenoid) right up to 10mm (FIA Master Switch.)

I've done some Googling and have drawn a blank. I should mention that a couple of Forum members have offered to help out but they've already done enough and I don't wish to be seen to be taking the Michael.

"Vehicle Wiring Products". They are very helpful. I have not actually bought a cable, but I enquired and theyu said they could do pretty much anything...

Polevolt (http://www.polevolt.co.uk/) also make them up. £5 per cable (plus cost of cable and ends).

certain forum members don't think you are taking the michael I am sure...

certain forum members want to see your car finished for you as much as you do I am sure!!!

edited to add, that polevolt is owned/run by a friend of mine's father and he is a top bloke, but like I say they could easily be done for you...

I had some made up ages ago in fork truck bay at a place i used to work at. They were superb, that car turned over quicker as a result. Some ind est's have fork truck places - just a thought.

if a forum member has offered then no harm on taking it tbh. Especially if you return the favour with a pint etc.

Certain forum members would be more than happy to help and don't live too far away either! :-)

You could always buy the crimping tool and do it yourself. They're not expensive (circa £20) and you'll always have it. Electrical wholesalers will stock them and all the different size terminals.

I would be happy to do they for you for free and then post, all you need do is pay cost of cable and ends. Not sure where I would get the cable but if you could get it and snd it to me even better.

Just to draw this one to a close I have ordered the necessary cables from Polvolt. I appreciate all of the offers but it was good to get some expert advice on the cable required given a couple of very long runs.

Can I also say that Worx was right - Polevolt could not have been more helpful.

Connectors from Lucas, Partco, or Maplin, or VWP.

Cheapest cable I've found is from my local welding supply shop.

After that, a propane torch and solder, and you'll never have another worry.

Crimped ends, unsoldered, can end up oxidising inside the end, then end up with poor contact and problems.

Recived my cables and connectors from Polevault today.

Excellent service and <24 hours from order to delivery! Kit exactly as described and the guy I talked to was freindly and helpful
