Hi guys,
I want to start checking that the maximum travel of the wishbones wont allow items to come in contact, brake pipes, body work etc.
I havent got any shocks yet.
Does anyone have a good set of measurements from the two bolt mounts on the shocks when fully open and fully closed?
Many thanks!
If you told us what you were building it might help
Lol oops sorry, haynes roadster with 2.0L Silver top.
Hi,
General consensus on a Sierra based Haynes roadster (MX5 is different)
14" Open, 9.5" Closed Coilovers
Like these Gaz Shocks from Rally design, but Protech is also a supplier
https://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=24889
Springs : 8'' front, 9'' rear
On my road Hayes Raodster, I have 350 lbs front, 250 lbs rear. But it might not be adapted for track. You'll needs to try different ones I guess,
but this is a good starting point.
For your brake lines, as I used to supply brake lines for Haynes Roadster, here are the specs for Sierra based Haynes Roadster, using Sierra brake
system (MX5 is different) :
Font brake lines 450mm overall
Fitting (calliper end) straight non swivel male M10x1.00
Fitting (chassis end) straight non swivel bulkhead male M10x1.00
M10x1.00 lock nut
(the female fitting from your brake pipes in the chassis will be swivel)
Rear brake lines 520mm overall
Fitting (calliper or drum end end) 45° swivel male M10x1.00
Fitting (chassis end) straight non swivel bulkhead male M10x1.00
M10x1.00 lock nut
(the female fitting from your brake pipes in the chassis will be swivel)
If you have drums, no need to do the installation with the bracket as the books says, a 45° swivel tubular fitting fits. See these page from my former
website :

Hope that will help
Hi ya,
That's perfect!!!!
I have all my brake pipes on etc, just need to make sure I am checking the right travel. If I do 15" open to 9" closed, I know I am well
covered.
Many thanks!!

Hi ya,
I just measured at 15 and 9 as a safety margin. Shocks would be as you said.
Many thanks again, top man!
