It seems my car is not on MID (ASKMID).
I am insured and Brokers said they would have the company KGM @ Loyds resend details to MID.
Anyone know how long it takes and when the database is updated?

It should be no more than 14 days.
Some say it can take weeks however I took a new policy out on the internet Sunday afternoon and it was on when I checked MID on Thursday.
It should update as soon as the insurance company load your details to it. I load details of company vehicles to it directly and in the past (just to
see) I've checked Askmid soon after and the vehicle has been on the database.

Btut if your insurance company has not bothered to enter the details into the database it might take longerr.
thats the long and the short of it, lazy insurance companies make it take weeks. In reality, it should be instant.
My friend had his van impounded because it wasnt on the MID and he didnt have his certificate with him. He was perfectly legal (abliet the fact you
are meant to have docs with you at all times, but who does really?), but they still want over £200 off him for towing it.
Car has been insured from September 2009 originally on it's chassis reference then on to Registration December 2009, so plenty of time for it to
go on. Just guess I will try in the morning and if not go to the Post Office for the tax disk renewal!

When we were stopped the day after we bought the Pug, the kind officer reckoned it could be up to 5 days before our details appeared on the MID.
Best to nip to the PO tomorrow and make a call to the MID customer services on Monday.

Bearing in mind the MID is used for ANPR, it's less hassle than getting pulled every 5 mins and having to explain / produce documents.

I had exactly this same problem, numerous calls to the broker (who didn't seem bothered about the hastle I would have if I was NPR'd) failed
and I eventually resorted to contacting the insurance company directly, who had no record of my policy. They contacted the broker and my vehicle was
listed the next day.
Strangely I won't be getting "2gether "with this particular broker again.

I have to update my fleet details within 14 days of getting a new vehicle and there's theoretically a fine if I don't. The insurance companies should be the same. I suspect yours is lost in a pile on somebodys desk.
I have spoken to my broker this morning, it sounds like the database is done from the actual Insurance company and that specialist policies need to be
done manually, I guess our cars are not typical names in a list such as Ford Mondeo, Escort etc.
Anyway, I feel a bit more confident it will be on the database in the next few days, I have found the broker to be quite good actually on answering
any questions I have. So still pleased with them.

"Are there any rules about how quickly the data has to be loaded to the MID?
Yes, for privately owned vehicles, the rules state data must be on the MID within 7 days of a policy starting, or 7 days from a change being made to a
policy.
For commercial fleet-type policies or motor trade policies it is different. In these cases the data must be on the MID within 14 days of a policy
starting or within 14 days of a change being made on the policy.
MIB monitors these targets very closely for every insurance company and they all strive to ensure they exceed these targets so as to avoid any
disruption to their policyholders"

I got my Road tax OK today so that's one less thing I need to remember for Stoneleigh.
The Database Gets updated by the Insurers. How it works is the broker Us or whoever will submit all their policies accepted electronically or (EDI)
overnight, the Insurers then sent uplods to the databases.
The Insurers have about a 6% Falldown and the MID have about a 5% falldown, therefore sometimes things need re-submission.
It would be wrong to blame an Insuraqnce Broker for an MID Faliure using these facts. I am sure you agree.
IF however you do have an MID Problem with a 2gether policy please call us 01945 465508. We will inform the Insurer for a Re-Submission, you see we
or the Insurer will not be automatically informed if an upload has failed to the MID.
One of my policies failed the upload but of course was fully Insured and I had to get it re-submitted.
