ok so i thought the black and white indy with a turbo zx12 was the most i bhp per ton at 550. The vids on you tube of it look mental. But i have just
seen a post from someone stating there fury with turbo rotary power is 600 bhp per ton. Anyone beat that? I really want to see you tube track vids
aswell.
Long term i would love a 500bhp per ton car. One day ill build one.
I also dreamed about going around the uk circuits and breaking all of the lap records, less likely i think!

i think the new caterham v8 levante is pushing 1000 BHP per tonne! it has a price tag to match though!lol

My striker when i get it will be a very reasonable 280 bhp per ton. There are vids of it chasing an elise on the tube.
280 is about average i think. Zetecs and small becs are about that.
I've seen a dax rush Hayabusa turbo which had something like 350 bhp which would give it over 700bhp per tonne
it was pretty quick

There is three BEC turbo'd sevens in CKC mag this month, the least powerfull is at 550bhp a tonne and the others had 350 at the wheels.
I believe MK sprtscars have supplied a turbo'd Hyabussa which is around 480 BHP now that got to be in excess of 1000 per ton

Maybe people should state the engine and car aswell. The one above looks like a cossie or zetec turbo. 560 bhp per ton hmmm fun times!

Well my Striker at 565kg and 270BHP was just shy of 500BHP per ton. I never realised the potential in the engine but its sold now anyway.
The replacement is at best 1100 kgs and starting with 380BHP works out to 345 BHP per ton. So quite a reduction.
Does have double the torque though and plenty of potential in the engine.

well i have a indy so it dosnt matter how many bhp i put through the back wheels the fronts still wont self center......

yep the zx10r turbo is ours we run 9 psi to get the 550 bhp per ton,
we could potentially run a bar of boost which would see well over 600 bhp per ton but we keep it at around 8 - 9 psi to keep it reliable and safe will
bags of power,
also yes we a have a dax turbo that is around the 380 bhp mark and @ 550 kg but bags more torque,
anything around the 500 bhp pet ton will be seriously quick car and you need to be a competant driver to get the best from it, and quite deep pockets
i know of several cars with alot more bhp near 500+bhp busa rushes so yes near 900- 1000 bhp per ton thats insane and expensive, f1 performnce apart

I would point out that you all seem to be missing an essential point - the ultimate power/weight is completely irrelevant if it can't put the
power on the road.
My original twin engined Furore was 274BHP in around 600kgs so around 450 BHP/tonne but because it was running 11" wide wheels & 285 section
tyres with a pair of engines sat straight over them on a dry road there was barely any wheelspin & it would out accelerate almost anything. The
other thing to consider is driveline losses - as i had no diff, & chain drive, flywheel bhp would be quite close to roadwheel bhp, with a typical
car box & diff setup you will lose around 15 - 25%, so again unless you're taking bhp at the wheels the comparisons are meaningless.
All IMHO of course!

I was wondering just what the max people had seen. The other thing I was thinking was have people seen super light cars with a moddist (500bhp!!)
engine or a heavy car with ludicrus power. ie a 1000bhp supra or 1200bhp skyline would be around a 100bhp per ton. They would get alot of the power
down though!
This leads me on to my thoughts that if you have made lots ofpower you really need mid engine to get it down.

Most (aka almost all) 1000bhp cars have a measurable eph (engines per mile).

Complete waste of time in most cases as most seven types are struggling to put 150 Bhp down to the ground with any efficiency. Never mind trying to
put stupid amounts of uncontrolled turbo power down.
Proof is in the pudding. Mega turbo average kit cars doing lap times barley any better than 90Bhp locost race cars and being slaughtered by 160 bhp
750Mc kit cars and RGB cars.

My turbo kit car puts down about 300 bhp without too much fuss. Certainly wouldnt want less.
