I'm looking to spend about 3K on TDCI but not sure which one..
Fancy the Mondy after working in the plant from 2000~2007 as a QA engineer...
BUT.. like the look of the Focus...
Which model for 3K?
Muntano for me
The focus is f*gly
Focus tdci 1.6 110bhp only cos i have one
would not have a mondy 2.0tdci too many problems with that engine that i see every day

as above with the mondeo, had one for 6 months, never ending problems with it, turbo, flywheel, injectors, will never buy another ford again after the experience with that car and my local ford dealership
You need another option on your votes...
Vauxhall Vectra 1.9TDCI SRi 150.
Then I'd vote.
Having said that - I'd definitely go Mondeo rather than Focus purely for practicality. Sure there are some pigs around, but if you get a good
one you'd be alright. Only problem is that good ones are hard to find...!
Ed.
3K will get you a nice Rover75/MG ZT bullet proof BMW 2litre diesel better than than the version BMW used in their own models.
Just whatever you buy don't get a Renault/Nissan DCi

out of the two you'll get more mondeo for the cash than focus.
I find the vectras a painful place to sit due to the poor design of the seats.
Keep em coming...
Skoda Octavia, plenty of them are diesel.
Honda Accord?? 2.2citdicdt or what ever it is?
Oddly enough I've beat the cr@p out of a Mondeo 2.0tdci for about 3 years now and it's not missed a beat (well, once but don't use bio
diesel)
I suppose it depends on what size you want, I imagine you could get a newer or better spec focus for the same money
Ford Tdci engines tend to be very expensive to fix when they do go wrong. The dual mass flywheel problem seems to have been fixed or at least greatly improved at the end of the 2003 model year.
I love my mondeo ST TDCI but you wont get one for 3k im afraid. That said I have had to have the injectors done as have many. But then again,
I've read that on most modern diesels the injectors are considered service items around 60-70k.
I suppose The ST is the only mondeo I'd have cos it looks half decent. I'd prefer a Focus but the specs/looks just dont match up to the ST.
