Do wrc cars need iva to go on the road between stages? They all carry number plates etc.
i thought they all were converted from standard production cars so really they are only converted or modified
very modified. I suspect the cage, seat bars, engine and box mount changes not to mention conversion to AWD probably counts for the "altered monocoque" rule and a compulsory Q
No they are registered road cars.
Obviously some are on foreign regs.
Technical regulations mandate that World Rally Cars must be built upon a production car with a minimum production run of 2500 units. A number of
modifications may be made to the car, including but not limited to:
Engine with displacement of no more than 2.0 litres
Turbocharger with Anti-Lag System
Four wheel drive
Sequential gearbox
Aerodynamic parts
Weight reduction to a minimum weight of 1230 kg
Chassis strengthening for greater rigidity and safety enhancement (rollcage)

The factory teams sort of ignore a lot of rules and regs of this sort. They often have four or five sets of plates and papers for dozens of cars.
I once saw in a service area, the rally car and the management car (same model but a standard road car) carrying the same plates. That's what
happens when you don't pay attention. Once it was spotted they took a bit of care to park them well away from each other.

Nope, it's in a really nice area (went to visit a company on the same site a few years back) and it's a pretty good road to get to it too
