For anyone who has not read the previous posts, I have bought a cheap mondeo as a runaround, one issue is it has had a bodged engine change to a
silvertop. (which in itself is not a problem)
I have now spotted a couple of loose wires and closer inspection shows that the aircon compressor is no longer connected, both electronically and gas
pipes.
Now as its a cheap run around I will not want to pay to have it reconnected, so will remove it instead.
However other than buying a shorter drive belt is there anything else to remove/disconnect?
(btw lesson definitely learnt, look at car before buying, no matter how cheap)
Why don't you just leave it as it is? If it's not electrically conected the pulley will just free wheel and shouldn't cause any problems.
If its working leave it alone.
a shorter belt, 6PK1718 let me remove the compressor completely
(not a lot of room to get it out)
i was worried the compressor might sieze running dry.

Interesting. I too was worried that it would seize...
I think I will still go for the shorter belt, as I was just replacing the old belt and my motorfactor is happy to swap for a shorter one (6pk1713).
Will allow me too save some weight too.
Thanks all
