
I've been trying to remove a nut on my suzuki cappuccino and it won't bugde. I've had the nut splitter on it which has cracked it but its one of those nuts with a built in washer, so it's only split part of it. The nut is in a recess so I can't get the grinder on it. It's been soaked in plus gas. Now the nut is all ripped up and a socket won't go on it. How do I get it off?
can you drill the bolt out or is it not replaceable? Start with maybe 3mm to make sure its centred.
Its a suspension bolt for adjusting the multi link arm. The ones with an eccentric "washer" on each end. I'd rather save it if I could.
there are sockets which have a sharp twisted internal profile, designed to hammer on and bite into the affected nut, just can't think what
they're called at the moment.

I think you are going to have to sacrifice the bolt.
If the nut is that badly stuck I doubt the bolt is in very good condition anyway.
Can you get at the washer section of the nut with a drill? If you can then very carefully drill through it then use a sharp chisel to finish the job . Splitting it on opposite sides often helps. The nut extractors are made by Irvin , sold by Screwfix and Toolstation etc

Drilling the flange did the trick, together with a hammer and chisel to open it up. 5 of 16 nuts done, 11 to go.
