I went to coventry last night to watch the F1 stockcars race. Went a lot as a kid and started popping along a few years ago every now and then.

Do any other locosters go? Have been thinking about having a go in a hire car and had a chat with a couple of people about it last night.

Might start with the rv8 powered ones first rather than the big chevys of F1

i remember going as a young lad to nelson racetrack before it got bulldozed , john lund spat a bit of racetrack out at me .

local tracks to me are skeg/swaffham/long eaton if its still going - we keep threatening to make a car to compete in at work.

If you are going out in a hire car try to get in the chevy powered one, the quicker you go the more chance you will have of not getting hurt. I raced national saloons for quite a few years starting white and ending red so I do know what I'm saying. Also, stay out of the way, the guys who race wont take kindly to you in a hire car getting in the way of them racing. You need to move or they will move you quickly.
Finally, it's not as easy as it looks, it's not for everyone, however, anyone who takes them self out onto an oval and has a go has my respect. Good luck.
PS F1 stock cars only race in Scotland once a year at one of the speed weekends, usually at cowdenbeath on the sat night and Knockhill on the sunday.

the rover v8's race in a seperate class (ie not with the chevy boys in f1)
had thought about the rv8's in hotstox as a good way to get some experience first.
may even have a go at stoxcarts first!
i watched a lad in the hire car last night do a really good job at staying out of the way, which would be my main concern.
need to have a chat with one of the hire car guys and see what they recommend.

ps

john lund still racing: was there last night.
long eaton sadly gone (my old home track)
