Tin Top Car alarm issue
l0rd - 11/10/11 at 01:16 PM

I have a small issue with my alarm and i need ideas.

It works over the keyfob and not a seperate remote. It is an aftermarket one, don't know what as the car was used and have no documentation of it. I think it only has interior sensors.

Sometimes, when locking the car , you do not hear the alarm activating nor see the hazards flashing.

so far, i used to unlock and lock again and it would arm, hazards flashing, siren beeps. (Me huppy)

Last Friday, it started going of randomly. Sometimes after a couple of minutes, sometimes after hours. Hazards not flashing though. That same day, I found a big spider that i got rid off and no probs after that. (Thought the sensors was picking it up and went off)

Sat, Sun and Mon, no probs at all.

Today, all of the sudden, it started going off again. Twice in 2 minutes.

So where do i start looking?

Must be the spider's 'other half' then. He'll be in trouble when she finds him!

Hmmm

Well, if i find her, she will be going out the window too.

The one that went out the window was as big as a horse-fly.

Most anoying of all is that i don't have the manual for it and don't know how to deactive the ultrasonic sensors. At least i could troubleshoot it starting from that.

I have a new alarm waiting to go on it but this will not happen till the next couple of weeks and figure out how to connect the multiple sensors and window closure module.

I also need to find a wiring diagram for headlight operation when the alarm is activated and probably remote start.

I remember having one that played up constantly, to the point where I found the alarm unit by the engine and unplugged the lot.

I would do the same but it is somewhere behind the dashboard. I will try to find it. Didn't bother to be honest today. I just locked it with the keys.

Worth checking what happens to the car battery voltage after you switch off the ignition, some alarms can be set off by sudden dips in battery voltage. If the battery is iffy the voltage can suddenly dip.

I thought of that. Haven't done it yet as my multimeter is a bit dodgy lately. I need to get a new one.
