I've joined the hairdressing Elite, and had a bit of a hazing in the process.

As you'll have guessed from the title, I now have in my possession a Mazda MX5, or more correctly a Eunos Roadster. Unfortunatly for me the alternate went on my way home and I lost the engine at 70 something in the second lane of m26 which was scary. For the moment it's locked in my garage but it drove brilliantly untill I lost the leccy. Recovery man reckons It'll be a brilliant car once the alternater is sorted. I'm planning on joining an owners club when I've got the time but until then does anyone know where I can download an instruction booklet so I can work out how everything works?

Thanks.

Hopefully by next weekend I'll have it all sorted out so I can start enjoying it. I apologise in advance for the bad weather that we'll be having.

Good choice I have owned 2 mx5 turbos and 1 normal mx5 I found them a bit of a bore with out the turbo but there a very capable car and can handle up to 300bhp on the stock motor as it is pretty much the same engine as the 323 4wd turbo!

This was my favourite:

I sold it to get an rx8 which I currently own biggest mistake I ever made, way too civilised for me!

The 1.6 NA I got in mine is plenty enough for the moment. It's a massive step up from my panda as it's a bout twice the power for a simillar weight and drive is to the correct wheels. Does it take long to get used to all the stuff thats a bit odd like indicators on the right and the huge gap in what you can see over your shoulder.

What money is it likely to cost to get an alternater and battery done?

theconrodkid - 12/5/12 at 09:32 AM

have a look on the site i sent the link for, there are a couple of people breaking 5,s.
batteries aint cheap so i would recomend getting an alternator forst and then enjoy yourself

Recovery man said it was the wrong battery and that it was arcing off the body so I'd rather be safe than sorry, especially after the trouble I had yesterday. whilst walking back from the emergency phone I got stopped by the cops and stupidly asked if they could find out who my insurer was, inevitably the database hadn't been updated and I've got to take my certificate (Which I have now but checked online before leaving and didn't take) to the police station. Could've been worse though, aparantly they could have seized my car there and then.

the "wrong battery" syndrome is common,my + terminal is on the side away from the body, without either?

I'll post a pic later but the batterie doesn't seem to fit propperly either. Halfords online said a new battery will cost me £79 with a 3 year garantee so it doesn't seem like that big an expense.
