Help!!!

Mother in laws car is parked outside and Locked but won't unlock on any of the locks. Any ideas on how to get in?

What car is it?

Does the key not unlock the door? Does the key turn the lock? Does it have remote locking?

It seems strange to have a key that won't open any of the locks!!!

Must be the key that's worn!

Central locking working only to lock but not unlock the car. Sorted now upgrade to aa and the guy got in within 1 Min with some very basic tools that I could have sorted from the garage.

maybe the lock button on the remote* was stuck, so continuously re-locking the car?

I had a very similar incident on the tintop with an aftermarket alarm that had a central locking interface, except all mine would do was UNlock it, and not lock it. This of course was not so much of an issue since the key in the door overode that. I traced the issue to a duff relay on the PCB, changed that with an item from Maplins for £3 and it works again.

On some of the BMW's you can only unlock the car with a key on the passager side, you need to lift or pull the handle open slowly while you turning the key.

During my garage apprenticeship, I got sent on a course to learn how to break in to cars. Obviously very outdated now but you can't beat a long thin wooden wedge and a bit of welding rod........

Rubber window wedges work well and less likely to scratch the paintwork, even better is one of those inflatable bags fed between the door and frame
