Hi all
In need of help with tintop.
57 plate peugeot 207 1.4 petrol
Over last couple of days, radiator fan keeps on coming on. Temp gauge normal. Operates after about 10 mins of car being started then comes on and off
for rest of journey. Doesn't matter if driving along in free flowing traffic on motorway or just bumbling around town.
Checked water and level seems fine. Have looked at trying to bleed it but no bleed nipples on any pipes. Opened header tank and ran engine. Water
seems to be circulating ok. Nothing has been done to car recently which may have caused it.
Any ideas?

Is the air-con switched on? That'd switch the fan on/off.

fan temp sensor u/s (not sure on specific car but it's normally a separate sensor to the gauge one, on moderns) or loom fault shorting power to fan?
I would guess fan switch. try disconnecting it, it th efan stays off that is the issue. Well, 99% certain.
If you disconnect sensors in modern engine the engine management unit just go into default mode, it usually doesn’t illuminate the MIL unless its a
fault direct affecting emissions for example if the temperature sensor is giving readings out of credible range the temperature gauge will read at
the top end of "N" and the fan will run.
First stage with this kind of fault is visual check over of all the connectors in the engine bay followed by reading OBDII codes and reading live
data.
That will probably sound stupid but have you checked that the oil filler cap is not loose?
This happened to my wife 207 1.6 and the fan kept switching on/off because the oil filler cap wasn't put on correctly.
Seems to be quite common on the 207 when I googled this problem.

I was hoping to avoid garage costs but may have to to get obd readings since I have no code reader. I have checked all connections and all seem fine.
Nothing obvious anyway.
Checked oil filler cap and tightly on.
