Repairable?

Believe it's known as the MK7, big square one with on/off control in middle, works fine but the screen is blank, occasionally displays (backlight is fine) but more often than not nothing, bit of a pain as clock is part of the display plus whilst I know what stations I have tuned finding one that isn't is impossible. Common fault, repairable? 2nd hand ones on eBay for around £50 but would prefer to fix if I can

Before my current job I was an autoelectrician. We used to have a guy come round and collect damaged head units and repair them as a repair service.

This, I believe is still common. So maybe contact your local autoelectrician and see if they can do it. Often they quote over the phone flat few repairs.

Or look online for a similar service.

In terms of what the fault is, probably a broken ribbon inside that will connect the LCD display to the main board, or a loose conection in this area.

If your handy with electronics, take it a part and have a go.

I've fixed a couple like this, take apart and unplug everything in sight, spray with cleaning stuff from maplins and plug it all back together
